Now you'll understand why it's so amazing that I actually did some sewing!
I made this cute little "mug rug" as part of Mug Rug Madness hosted by Erin @ Two More Seconds.
What's a mug rug? Basically a large coaster or small placemat -- perfect place for a drink and a snack.
I basically did a hexagon-shaped log cabin ... does that make sense?
I started with a hexagon in the middle (cut with my accuquilt Go! Baby machine), then added the 2.5" strips around the side. The great thing about a mug rug ... You're done right about the time you're getting sick of it! It was just the right size for a one afternoon project. So if you have a short attention span (or baby's naptime), this is perfect.
I just trimmed the strips as I went - using the hexagon shape as my guide.
I have no idea if this is the "correct" way of doing it, but it worked for me!
I love the fabric on the back.
All of this fabric is from the line Ready Set Snow, provided by the Fat Quarter Shop.

This last photo shows the mug rug in action. Or, "How I got through the first trimester." Water and crackers. Seriously - that cute cup goes everywhere with me. Water is the one thing I can always stomach.

Love your hexie mug rug! It would be great for a centerpiece on my table too... those round tables are hard to quilt for! Thanks for the tutorial!
